Why Request a Course?

All of the courses listed in Synergy are automatically generated in the Moodle server. You don't need to request these courses. However, there are three (or more) situations in which a course would need to be requested:

  • If you teach the same course more than once (e.g. Algebra during period 1 and period 2), rather than having to post the same activities (lessons, homework, quizzes, tests, projects, etc.) in both of these courses, you can request a Meta Course. A Meta Course is a course where the teacher adds Child Courses (e.g. Algebra Period 1 and Algebra Period 2) to this Meta Course, and can post all of the resources for these courses on this Meta Course, rather than posting them on multiple courses. With the new version of the Moodle server we are running, we will approve and create this course, but teachers now need to designate this as a Meta Course. Instructions are below for teachers on how to designate a course as a Meta Course, which also includes adding the Child Courses to the Meta Course.
  • If you are running an after school program, club or sport (National Honors Society, etc.) that is not listed in eSIS, and you would like to use the Moodle server, you can request a course for the program, club or sport.
  • If you are creating instructions for staff members (e.g. how to use Synergy, tech support, etc.), you can request a course for this.
  • If you would like to post information about meetings, you can request a course for this.
