  1. To access the list of available plugins, go to the Dashboard in your blog. In the left column hover your mouse cursor over Plugins and click Installed Plugins.

  2. Below is a list and a description of each plugin available to use in a blog. Read through the descriptions of these plugins and determine if there are any you would like to use in your blog. If there are any plugins you'd like to activate in your blog, click the name of the plugin and it will take you to instructions on how to activate, enter settings and use the plugin.


  1. Contact Form 7: This plugin will enable the option for you to insert a contact form on a page or post that will allow someone who has visited this page or post to send you an email. This Form will include: Name (required), Email Address (required), Subject, Your Message and there will be a Send/Submit button. You can also include a check list, quiz and other items.

  2. Counterize: This will gather data from those who visit your blog. The data it gathers is: Hourly, daily, weekly and monthly traffic data, Which pages and posts are visited, IP addresses, Countries from which they visited, Browser names and versions, Operating systems names, versions and platforms, Keyword searches, Outlinks and Referers. This plugin will gather all of this data and provide a method for you to view the data. If there is just one or a few sets of this data you would like to acquire, rather than all of the data listed above, below this plugin are individual Counterize data plugins to activate.

  3. Easy Contact Forms: If you would like to create a form, survey, etc. on your blog for people to complete, activate this plugin.

  4. Link Library: This plugin is used create a page on your blog that will contain a list of all of the link categories that you have defined inside of the Links section of the WordPress administration, along with all links defined in these categories. The user can select a sub-set of categories to be displayed or not displayed. Link Library also offers a mode where only one category is shown at a time.

  5. List Category Posts: List Category Posts allows you to list posts from a category into a post/page using the [catlist] shortcode. This shortcode accepts a category name or id, the order in which you want the posts to display, and the number of posts to display. You can use [catlist] as many times as needed with different arguments. Usage: [catlist argument1=value1 argument2=value2].

  6. Multiple Category Select Widget: This plugin gives you the ability to provide your blog visitors with a widget full of drop downs based upon parent categories and their sub-categories. This will allow visitors to easily access parent categories and sub-categories. This plugin can be used on a sidebar you define anywhere within your theme that you like.

  7. NextGEN Gallery: This plugin provides a powerful engine for uploading and managing galleries of images, with the ability to batch upload, import meta data, add/delete/rearrange/sort images, edit thumbnails, group galleries into albums, and more. It also provides two front-end display styles (slideshows and thumbnail galleries), both of which come with a wide array of options for controlling size, style, timing, transitions, controls, light box effects, and more.

  8. NextGEN Gallery Scroll Gallery: This plugin will allow visitors to scroll through a gallery of photos or other media. In order to activate this plugin, you need to also activate the NextGEN Gallery plugin.

  9. Private Blog: This plugin will allow you to make your blog private by way of visitors having to know the password to access your blog. No one will be able to access any part of your blog if they don't know the password.

  10. TimThumb Vulnerability Scanner: This plugin will scan your entire wp-content directory for instances of any outdated and insecure version of the timthumb script, and give you the option to automatically upgrade them with a single click. Doing so will protect you from hackers looking to exploit this particular vulnerability.
