VPN Clients
VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Network. VPN software allows a computer to connect from outside a network as if it were connected from within the network. You may wonder... Why is this necessary? The reason is that for security reasons certain network services are only available from within a network.
For example, on the 4J network, one can not access FS1, FS2 or FS3 from outside the network; one can not print to district printers from outside the network; and a staff member can not upload their web pages to the staff.4j.lane.edu web server from outside the network. If you would like to have access to any of these services from outside the 4J network, you'll need to download and install the VPN client software.
Note that this software is licensed and must be downloaded from within the 4J network.
