Allowing Pop-ups on Macs for Internet Filtering
If your browser isn't configured to allow pop-up windows from lane.edu, you will have to log into the Internet filter each time you go to a new web page. The advantage of using Firefox is that you don't have to allow all pop-up windows - you can allow pop-ups from just lane.edu.
Here are instructions on how to allow pop-ups for Safari and Firefox.
Safari
- Pull down the Safari menu.
- See if there is a check to the left of Block Pop-Up Windows.
- If there is, select this item to allow Pop-Up Windows.
- To make sure Pop-Ups Windows are allowed, pull down the Safari menu and make sure there isn't a check to the left of Block Pop-Up Windows.
- Login to the filter and a small window should appear with your username. Keep this window open and you shouldn't be prompted to log in on the filter again.
Firefox
- Pull down the Firefox menu.
- Select Preferences....
- Click the Content icon.
- If the box to the left of Block pop-up windows is not checked, check it.
- Click the Exceptions... button to the right.
- Under Address of web site: type lane.edu and click Allow.
- Close the Allowed Sites - Popups window and close the Content window.
- Login to the filter and a small window should appear with your username. Keep this window open and you shouldn't be prompted to log in on the filter again.
